Steve Vaughan

Steve brings over 20 years of experience to the company. Steve grew up on the family farm at Frankland and has strong affiliation with this region. He was educated at Frankland Primary School and then went on to boarding school at Aquinas College. He studied Property Valuation at Curtin University under a cadetship with the Valuer Generals Office, and spent time in Geraldton as Regional Valuer.
Steve was the original partner in Vaughan and Coakley, and then went on to become the Managing Director and Principal of Vaughan & Co. The company commenced with a sales staff of 5 and built up to 13 when it was taken over in 1995 by the IAMA Group. Steve was then appointed General Manager of SBS IAMA Real Estate. Steve has extensive knowledge of the South West region, including Esperance, as well as the Geraldton area, but also specialises in vineyards and other intensive agricultural ventures in the South West.
Steve spends a high proportion of his spare time at his vineyard in Yallingup.

Hugh Ness

Hugh has been involved in the rural real estate industry since 1988. From 1988 to 1995 he was a sales representative with Vaughan & Co, and from 1995 to 2001 a Sales Manager for IAMA Real Estate before forming VNW Independent. Hugh services an extensive area which incorporates the region from Perth to Bunbury, as well as the upper Great Southern and adjoining wheatbelt.

Hugh’s focus as a Director is not only on the sale and leasing of all forms of rural real estate, but also on the management and training of new sales representatives in the company.

Hugh has held a Triennial Certificate since 1997, and is also a licensed auctioneer with nearly 20 years experience.

Simon Wilding

Simon joined the real estate industry in 1998 and became a sales representative and concentrated on rural sales with a small company in Toodyay. He joined IAMA Real Estate later that year where he began working with Steve Vaughan and Hugh Ness which would later lead to the formation of VNW Independent.

Simon has lived in the Avon Valley all his life, and has an extensive knowledge of the pastoral region of Western Australia, where he worked as a Mustering Pilot in the late 70s. He still flies his aircraft to service the pastoral industry. Simon holds an Auctioneers license in addition to his Triennial Certificate, and is actively involved in auctioneering.

Simon has been involved in many different committees in his area including Northam Ag. Society, F.C.O. Local Bush Fire Brigade, President of Northam Aero Club, Meat & Livestock Committee R.A.S., Meat Committee P.G.A.

Before the commencement of his career in real estate, Simon worked on the family farm and Jackarooed in the eastern states for two years. He still manages and owns the family farm at Spencers Brook.

Jeff Mactaggart

Jeff has been living and working in Wellstead, Green Range and surrounding areas for the past 24 years and has an extensive understanding of the land and community of this area.

Born and raised in the North East Wheatbelt region on a family farm, Jeff, wife Elaine and three children moved to the south coast in 1992. Here, Jeff developed his own agricultural contracting business specialising in broad acre spraying, swathing and water auditing.

Since arriving in the Wellstead area, Jeff has remained an active member in his local sporting and social communities. Jeff has volunteered and previously been involved in office bearing jobs for the Boxwood Hill Golf Club at association and club level, has chaired the Wellstead Progress Association and is currently secretary of the Green Range Bowling Club. Jeff’s sporting interests has seen him previously play cricket for local teams and today continues to actively participate in golf and bowls.

Jeff is passionate about the rural industry, he is dedicated, enthusiastic, personable, and is prepared to work hard to achieve the best results possible for his clients.

Mark possesses a wealth of experience in both the Agricultural industry and Real Estate Sales.
Mark was the Managing Director of Afgri Australia for 10 years, Dealer Principal for Aquip Machinery for 2 years and has more recently been involved in Rural Sales with one of WA’s pastoral houses. Having worked across a wide geographical area, he has developed good knowledge and insight into of some of the unique qualities and challenges in different areas. In addition to his practical knowledge and experience, Mark also boasts impressive credentials (MBA, BTech Agricultural Management in livestock and crop production, and a National Diploma in Practical Agriculture). He is an active member of Angus Australia.
Mark has always been passionate about Agriculture and has spent his entire life in this field. He currently resides in Wannamal where he has a pure bred Angus herd as well as a commercial herd for embryo recipients. Mark remains actively involved with livestock, horticulture and crop production across 2 continents, which not only provides him a broad base of knowledge and experience about the economics of Agriculture, but also equips him with empathy and understanding of people already in this field, as well as people who are interested in farming or lifestyle properties.
Mark will mainly focus on farms and lifestyle sales in the Central Midlands and surrounding areas and is happy to travel to service his clients.

Michael Batchelor

Mike joined VNW in 2003 and works from his property in Broomehill where he lives with his wife Jan. He services the Great Southern area, including Kojonup, Tambellup, Katanning, Broomehill, Cranbrook, Gnowangerup, Jerramungup, Pingrup, Nyabing and Woodanilling. Mike better known as ‘Batch’ has lived and worked in the area most of his life.
He was educated at Tambellup Primary School, Katanning High School and then to Hale School for his senior years.
A couple of semesters at Curtin University studying Business Management convinced Batch that the corporate world was perhaps not for him. He then went jackarooing in the Murchison and in Tasmania and returned home to run the family farm in 1979.
Over the years, he has been involved with the community through football, the local theatre company and many committees including The Tambellup Golf Club, The Tambellup Football Club, The Ag Society, P & C and is currently a councillor on The Broomehill-Tambellup Shire. He still enjoys his golf and the odd camping and fishing trip. Batch has also worked as the Penning Contractor at the Katanning Saleyards for many years and is well known throughout the district.
Batch is respected for his straight forward and honest approach and is very happy to talk to new and existing clients regarding their sale and leasing requirements.
